The Men's Club meeting of June 7th elected Charlie Millman president, Aaron Novick vice president, Jed Clauss corresponding secretary and Phil Goldman treasurer.

Charlie Millman presented a plaque of appreciation to Danny Harris, outgoing president and founder of the Men's Club.

The members discussed ideas for events this season with emphasis on how to raise money for the shul.

Danny Harris introduced Linda Livni, our speaker whose presentation followed the business meeting.

Jerusalem resident and journalist, Linda Livni discussed the political
situation in Israel  today

Linda Livni, who was for many years the ABC News field producer for Jerusalem and the West Bank, talked about the holy city and its precarious position as a center of Christian, Jewish and Muslim spiritual life.

Linda Livni's great-grandfather was one of the original Jewish settlers in Greenport in the late 1800s. Her grandfather, Sam Levine, and her father, Arthur Levine, owned and operated The Arcade Department Store. Livni inherited the establishment and ran it herself for many years before moving permanently to Israel.

The draw to Israel began when ABC News assigned her to the network's Tel Aviv bureau. Similarly, the draw to Greenport brings her back to the North Fork every summer, where she reacquaints herself with her spiritual and cultural roots. As an American, her perspectives on the State of Israel and the state of Israeli relations with the global community offer valuable lessons for United States citizens as our country pursues peace in the Middle East.
