Cookie Slade, a brain injury therapist, addressed the Men's Club, July 22nd 2009
Corinne "Cookie" Slade, an occupational and cognitive therapist, and Jenny Myers, a survivor of a brain injury, talked about treatment for people with brain injuries and other neurological disabilities, such as stroke, and their plan to start a support group here on the North Fork. ries here by working with North Fork resident Jenny Myers, who sustained a brain injury in an automobile accident last February. Together, the two women are spearheading the formation of a support group so that people living with brain injuries can learn the latest coping procedures, and also find comfort knowing that they are not struggling alone. Ms. Slade, a New Jersey resident and business owner, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and a degree in occupational therapy from Columbia University. She is a member of the Brain Injury Association, the Governor's Task Force on Brain Injury, the Society for Cognitive Rehabilitation, the American Occupational Therapists Association, and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
